Seems to me that entertainment is going in this direction.

So what's the deal? I've got a 65" Panasonic HDTV plasma I got a great deal on, just using the stock speakers now.... gonna go 5.1 soon. PS3 as my blu ray. Still better than the movies.

What's everyone else doing now?

46" HDTV. PS3, Xbox 360, Dish HD DVR, Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver with 7.1 speakers. We also have a media server PC that can pipe movies and TV shows over the network to both the PS3 and 360.

46" flat screen.  Using the built in speakers.  Don't pay for HD.  Wasn't sure it was all worth it.  I don't watch that much once Football and Drag Racing are over.  Have been thinking about a speaker system.  The built in's just don't seem to be able to handle the TV.  I'm constantly turning the TV up and down.

46" Samsung 7 Series LCD.  Had it 6 months, our first big screen.  Bought a Bose Cinemate 3 piece at the Bose outlet so we saved $50.  It makes plenty of noise for us.  Our cable provider installed a new HD DVR and there was no charge for the installation or additional monthly charge for the HD channels, so we're pretty happy about that.

46 inch DLP with the Sony surround sound DVD system. I'm not so happy with having to change out bulbs almost every year. I hope you got the extended warranty Artoh. Next one will be either Plasma or LCD or LED. Cost of replacement bulbs if you do it yourself is about $120.00.
But the picture is FanfugginTastic.

Plasma is the best route now. Super high refresh rates, super black blacks. Better than the best LCDs It's too bad CRT HDTVs couldn't get much smaller. It was better than LCD too. We have a rear projection 1080i HDTV which we got for a great price at the time.

Don't have a dark enough room to remove the daytime reflections.  Our 46" Samsung 7 Series LCD has a great picture...we're stuck with the open environment we have, which doesn't lend itself to drapes or other room darkening and not wanting to spend the money to build a room, we're pretty happy with this alternative.

Had 27" RCA hooked to Sony receive 5.1, KLH and RealTek speakers,.  DirecTv HDTV audio package.  IOW 5.1 sound but not picture and that only worked on a few channels and programs.

Switched to DishTV and HDTV package, bought 32" Viore 108i for bedroom.  Winter Olylmpics and HDTV shows are very nice, not 5/7.1 sound but with the Viore's speakers set on surround its a 5.1 affect with the acoustics.  Its been good, also its bedroom HDTV the surround sound so volume is lower.
